I could really use some advice from someone who has been doing this a long time! I have painted lots of items that were clearly old stuff, nothing special, that needed freshening up. I have a table that I had planned to paint, but it turns out to be vintage Henredon, which apparently sells better in the original wood finish and is very desirable in good shape. Mine has a small chip in the veneer though. Is it still “too nice to paint”? Do you ever get pro appraisals? I’m so confused!!! Help!
I get certain things appraised, but mostly do custom work and my clients will want their pieces of furniture refinished regardless of money vaule due to sentimental vaule. You can try patching the veneer but take note when restaining it will be different then the veneer.

Thanks. Good to know the veneer won’t match!
