To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong

Looking back at my 2015 Portfolio confidence was my 2016 goal for SC Charms as well as in my personal life. Too many days are wasted comparing ourselves to others and wishing to be something we aren’t. I grew as a women through God, my family and my clients this year.  Everybody has their own strengths and weaknesses. When you finally accept everything you are, and aren’t, you will truly succeed.

I can look back on 2016 with pride, honor and happiness. SC Charms was  Featured in Phoenix Magazine as well as Featured in The Chippy Barn Instagram Inspiration Guide. I completed goals that I had planned for myself, such as focusing some of my energies on my blog/ website. Sharing tutorials and How-To’s…. okay, I only did a few, but that’s a start! Trying new techniques like dry brushing and acid washing a mirror. But more importantly, I had courage, integrity and confidence in all that I did. I didn’t waver. I didn’t hesitate. I inhale confidence. I exhale doubt.

So what’s next for SC Charms, you ask?

Inspire.

My goal this next year is to inspire creativity. There are many ideas surfacing for 2017. New plans being created that I am so very fortunate to be apart of. I am looking forward to a very exciting 2017!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas twenty-six teen, to you and yours from me and mine!!!

Enjoy your loved ones and the time you have together this Christmas. The mundane things can wait, but this, right here is a moment that can quickly pass us by. So cherish the ripped up wrapping paper on the ground a little longer. Ignore the dirty dishes from your amazing meal. And turn up the volume on your Christmas music!

I am so very blessed for my family and I’m grateful that you are a part of Second Chance Charms. As always, thank you for your support, feedback and love!

Have yourself a very merry Christmas

❤ Rebecca

French Provincial Chest of Drawers

My client picked up a french provincial bedroom set and wanted an updated look. Clean and classic. Starting her bedroom transformation with the tall boy, refinished in a solid look using Sherwin-Williams Extra White. Original hardware revamped in gold.

Dry Brush Dresser

“Do what you see best, I trust you”… those words would scare the paint brush right out of my hand about 4 years ago… now when I hear phrases like that, I smile. A big ol grin is plastered to my face and I am one hundred percent sure I either look goofy or creepy. haha. All I ask from my client is a few inspirational photos that give them that “Love” feeling. You know that feeling when you see an inspirational space and can imagine yourself living in that room, perhaps enjoying a good book or a glass of wine with a loved one.

After looking at her inspirational photos and seeing her space that these two dressers will occupy I knew what I wanted to do.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Dorian Gray for the base main color. I used a new technique for myself called dry brushing using Repose Gray and Gauntlet Gray in a crosshatch look. His matching Tall Chest of Drawers will follow shortly!

Antique Dresser with Mirror

Gorgeous dresser with 3 long drawers and her original mirror. This piece has some fantastic subtle details. Dovetailed joints. Beautiful spindle legs! Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige and distressed in all the right places! Stained faced drawers, I didnt want to hide that beauty! Check out her fantastic mirror. I have been wanting to do this for some time, I added writting pages to the back of the mirror where I purposely took off the silver mirrored reflection.

Measurements are 48″ long x 34.5″ tall x 22″ deep. Mirror Measurement is 38″ tall. Mirror attaches to back of dresser.FOR SALE asking  $325.00

Nightstand

Back in the beginning of 2015, I worked on two dressers with a fellow refinisher. She did the wood work end of things and I refinished. One of those pieces was this black distressed dresser. She added the wood slats and I stained and painted this fellow to complete his rustic transformation.

Almost 2 years later this same client came back to me with a request of a night stand to match. I have learned more things since his dresser debut and was able to build him a stand to match his dresser.
Refinished in Tricorn Black and distressed in the lines only. Added wood slats on the shelf, bottom base and top. Stained in Chestnut. Added a rope handle to complement his twin brother. I love these custom pieces!

I found two of these nightstands at a garage sale, however my client only wanted one to complete his guest room. My before and after picture is unique as in it has both the original nightstand alongside the finished product shown together. As you can see I cut around the top overlapped sides to flush it against the base of the nightstand. Removed the bottom front base to add slats around the bottom and lowered the drawer half an inch.
