Goodbye November, Hello December

I know. I know. Christmas is here??! Where did the time go? Before I start hyperventilating lets take a moment and enjoy what November has brought! I was able to get two inventory pieces in over at Shop Selections and, I got busy with some amazing client pieces! Lets take a quick peak at what was completed!

So much COLOR!!! I am completely over the moon with all these beautiful pieces! I love growing my portfolio- Its the next best thing to not being able to KEEP all of them! Thank you for allowing me to give a Second Chance to these forgotten Charms.

Be happy about what you have.

Be excited about what you want.

How many of you can relate by having a Goal Check List? We believe it to be a great thing~ healthy even! If you don’t do it, this 2018 New Year is a perfect time to start doing so! My husband and I will write down the things we want to accomplish for the year: Personal goals. Our family goals. Household upgrades. etc. Once you write down these “goals”, it makes it easier to work towards them. When you check your goal off your list the feeling of accomplishment is wonderful and you are ready to gear up for the next thing to tackle!

One of my goals for Second Chance Charms is to have a Shop Renovation! This took time but well worth it in the end! Before my garage was a chaotic mess that I was not only consistently embarrassed by when clients would come over to Drop off/ Pick up their pieces, but the lack of organization was nerve-racking during the refinishing process.

A few of the items on my check list for this Shop Renovation were:

  • Cabinets- Let face it I needed storage for all of my supplies.
  • Sink- As crazy as that sounds Yes. I have completely ruined my sink in my house. You bet your bottom Kitchen Renovation is on my 2018 List 😉
  • Electrical outlets and lighting- My garage has ONE outlet for me to use. I have dealt with this craziness for five years. Enough. And of course LIGHTING is key!

Here are a few of the progress pictures I have. There are few things that need to be done- but all cosmetic. I can finally work in a safe, organized, happy environment!

Plumbing for a sink!
Electrical work for more outlets! (My father and my youngest, Emmett)

Follow Second Chance Charms (Behind The Scenes) Furniture to see more pictures of my Helper/ Boss Emmett 😉

Drywalled the sink area as well as cleaned out the space for all the cabinets!

I would still like to paint the ceiling- Yes my OCD doesn’t only reflect on my furniture pieces but as well as in my life all around!

Here is a final photo of what I have going on today- I still have lighting to install in the ceiling as well as finish up the outlets on the right side of the wall. Nevertheless, I am still so excited to share this with you!

“How important is excitement to happiness? The key is to get excited about the mundane — not just extraordinary things”.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and ate yummy food with wonderful people! My family had a very Thankful holiday!

This end table can be placed anywhere in your home and no matter which direction you are looking at it- its gorgeously refinished! I had found this handsome fellow at one of my random run ins from a Friday garage sale hunt after dropping the boys off at school. I knew what I wanted to do with him!

Yellow mellow and a perfect friendly fellow! Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Butternut. Distressed to perfection for the farmhouse chic look. Original pull revamped in oil rubbed bronze.

Curio Cabinet

This piece has been in my clients family for well over 100 years. They even restored this lovely gem at one point. Ready for a change and entrusting me with the task I was excited to get my little hands on her!

I had just completed refinishing my clients daughters TV entertainment unit and hutch when they realized what paint and glaze can do to a piece of furniture.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Westhighland White. Glazed in Turish Coffee brown to pop out her details. Stained the top in Dark Walnut. Revamped the original hardware, key included, in oil rubbed bronze. Lovely!

Decor Items

Occasionly clients will ask me to refinish little décor pieces, this current client came to me to have a bathroom shelf refinished as well as some hardware that she’s putting on a dresser. I love her idea of what she wanted for the hardware keeping the handle pulls original but the backing in a custom navy blue color. Shelf refinished in a blue color match and updating the knob with a white and gold feather. Matching an armoire that I refinished some time ago. Before:

Craft Desk

One of the first things I ask of my clients who reach out to me about refinishing a piece of furniture for them is “send me your inspirational photos!”. I LOVE that you love my work and want my style in you home but I also want to know what LOOK you are trying to achieve. Visual aids help us both! So I received a few pictures from a client wanting to do what she saw on Pinterest (who among us has not?!).

Here is her inspirational photo of what she wanted accomplished:

She received this table for FREE from a fellow refinisher and friend of mine. We cut the table in half to get started! I have been wanting to do one of these for quite some time! My client will use brackets to attach the back end of the table to her wall.

Refinished in a custom color that matches a hutch she had finished. A creamy white. Stained the top in a Dark Walnut.

Dining Chairs

For those who know me and my style, I am a perfectionist. So when my client told me she wanted to reupholster the chairs herself I was excited for her, but sad that I don’t have the chairs completely ‘finished’ for my portfolio. I can’t wait to see what fabric she will use and to recieve her client photos! I share all my client photos over on my Facebook Group Second Chance Charms (Behind The Scenes) Furniture.

I received five chairs and one captain chair to be refinished to match the buffet and dining table.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Whirlpool for a soothing pop of color. Glazed in Well-Bred Brown to show off all the glorious details each chair has!

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Whirlpool for a soothing pop of color. Glazed in Well-Bred Brown to show off all the glorious details this gal has to offer. Stained her lovely top in Dark Walnut for some originality.
