Hutch

Grandma’s hutch is being passed down the generations, becoming a cherished family heirloom that holds both sentimental value and rich history. My client was gifted this stunning hutch after her grandmother-in-law’s passing, a beautiful piece that is now a tangible connection to her husband’s heritage. To make something so special a permanent part of their home, one major thing that can be done is by refinishing the piece of furniture to match your personal style and decor. Not only does refinishing breathe new life into the hutch, but it also allows for the incorporation of modern aesthetics while preserving its original charm. Whether choosing vibrant colors to make a bold statement or opting for a more subdued, classic finish, this process can transform the hutch into a centerpiece that reflects the personality of the home. By doing so, the family can celebrate their traditions while giving a nod to contemporary design, ensuring that this beautiful hutch continues to tell its story for generations to come.

My client chose to have her piece refinished in Sherwin-Williams Tricorn Black in a sleek modern solid finish, a choice that enhances the hutch’s timeless design while providing a striking contrast against the light-colored walls of her home. The original hardware was left untouched but cleaned up, maintaining the historical integrity of the piece while also accentuating its refined elegance. This careful balance of old and new not only elevates the aesthetic appeal but also creates a deeper connection to their family legacy, as each brush stroke in the refinishing process reflects their dedication to honoring the past while embracing the future. Additionally, the hutch now serves as a focal point in their living space, adorned with carefully curated decor items that tell their own stories, inviting friends and family to engage with its rich history and the memories it holds.

This adorable nightstand can be used as an end table in an office or to complete your guest room, offering both functionality and style in any space.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Reposed Grey, it showcases a soft, calming hue that complements a variety of interior designs and color palettes. Slightly distressed for that farmhouse chic vibe, the piece carries a warmth and character that invites comfort. I added charming half moon pulls in oil rubbed bronze, which not only enhance its aesthetic appeal but also provide a tactile element that is pleasing to the touch.

Check out the before picture to see how I updated the bones of this furniture piece; I ripped off the ornate bottom to create a more modern look that embraces simplicity and elegance, making this nightstand a perfect addition to your decor. Its versatility allows it to blend seamlessly in any room while providing that unique touch that enriches your home environment.

Coffee Table

My favorite furniture pieces are those that come from returning clients, as they often carry a special story and connection. Recently, a lovely client reached out to me, recalling a beautiful curio cabinet I refinished for her back in 2017, which you can view at Curio Cabinet. With her recent move to Prescott, she wanted to lighten up the space where the coffee table would be placed, creating an inviting and airy atmosphere in her home. Alongside the coffee table, there is also a stylish TV console featuring a white base and a grey-stained top, and she sought my guidance on what would work best for her updated decor.

After discussing her vision for the space, I suggested going with a white finish and glazing it with grey tones to harmonize with the existing furniture, ensuring a smooth and cohesive transition throughout the area. For this project, I chose to refinish the piece in Sherwin Williams Westhighland White, a classic and fresh color, and then applied a delicate glaze of Dorian Gray to enhance the warmth and depth, achieving an incredible farmhouse chic vibe that perfectly complements her home.
