Dining Table

I had the opportunity to learn something new! My client loves her dining table, it belonged to her mother once apon a time. She was tired of the honey color stain. She purchased new chairs and wanted the table to match.

When receiving the table I quickly found out the top was formica made to look like wood. So it just couldn’t be stained. Not wanting to ruin my clients dreams of a different color stain I suggested we place a veneer over the existing top so we can stain it in any color.

Table Before

A few things that my client wanted to change was the wavey part of the table edge. She wanted to do without that and make it more modern and straight.

Before
After taking off a layer on the sides and using a bevel to clean up the angle and make everything seamless

I have never added a veneer top so the challenge was welcoming. Don’t get me wrong, I was completely nervous! I had both my father and husband help me glue and place the veneer top on three different sections so we still had the leaf option. As well as making sure the wood grain matched up, after cutting the sheet down to size. I pulled out the old dowells that were broken in the leaf and replaced them to fix any gap problems when closing the table together.

New veneer!

She was coming along nicely! Once my clients chairs came in I ran over and picked one up to color stain match for that perfect finish.

Mixing a little of this and a little of that 😉

Refinished in a solid sleek look using Sherwin-Williams Tricorn Black for the base and stained the top in a custom smokey walnut stain. Same table, different look!!

Sideboard

When you find the right sized piece for your home but don’t need the broke record player that’s in it, take it out and add a shelf! This perfect little record player stand has been upcycled and turned into a sideboard for my clients dining room.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Tricorn Black and lightly distressed around the edges. The original hardware has been polished and cleaned for that vintage look.

Side note: Our newest member of the family is making her debut! I will try not to have her in all my photos, but, there is no guarantee! Meet Miss Justice, Second Chance Charms shop pup!
