Hutch

Grandma’s hutch is being passed down the generations, becoming a cherished family heirloom that holds both sentimental value and rich history. My client was gifted this stunning hutch after her grandmother-in-law’s passing, a beautiful piece that is now a tangible connection to her husband’s heritage. To make something so special a permanent part of their home, one major thing that can be done is by refinishing the piece of furniture to match your personal style and decor. Not only does refinishing breathe new life into the hutch, but it also allows for the incorporation of modern aesthetics while preserving its original charm. Whether choosing vibrant colors to make a bold statement or opting for a more subdued, classic finish, this process can transform the hutch into a centerpiece that reflects the personality of the home. By doing so, the family can celebrate their traditions while giving a nod to contemporary design, ensuring that this beautiful hutch continues to tell its story for generations to come.

My client chose to have her piece refinished in Sherwin-Williams Tricorn Black in a sleek modern solid finish, a choice that enhances the hutch’s timeless design while providing a striking contrast against the light-colored walls of her home. The original hardware was left untouched but cleaned up, maintaining the historical integrity of the piece while also accentuating its refined elegance. This careful balance of old and new not only elevates the aesthetic appeal but also creates a deeper connection to their family legacy, as each brush stroke in the refinishing process reflects their dedication to honoring the past while embracing the future. Additionally, the hutch now serves as a focal point in their living space, adorned with carefully curated decor items that tell their own stories, inviting friends and family to engage with its rich history and the memories it holds.
