Bakers Rack

Loving these shelves I refinished for my client. One of those projects where you only receive half the piece to work with. I was looking forward to bringing the shelves to their home and seeing this piece come to life sitting on the metal backers rack.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Pure White and glazed in Gauntlet Gray. Dry brushed in Greek Villa and Gauntlet Gray for a weathered wood look. Both bottom, sides and tops finished getting rid of the oak colored wood for a beautiful modern feel.

Antique Humidor

I love the pop of color my client chose to have this little antique humidor stand refinished in. Its a small statement piece that will open many conversations, I am sure! I had this little fellow up over at In the Studio for customization and he eventually found his home. Work was needed to bring this antique humidor stand back to his glory. He was missing a few wooden details so molding and casting were needed.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams African Violet and glazed in black to pop out all the details this humidor stand has. Added a new black metal flower knobs from Hobby Lobby to finalize this handsome guy.

French Provincial Dresser

I am speechless. Can we just take a moment and sit here and just look at this gal. A fantastic french provincial dresser with curves everywhere! She has 9 deep drawers. Dovetail construction. Solid.

When I found her during one of my treasure hunts I knew exactly how I wanted her to look. I put her up for customization over at In the Studio and waited patiently for any takers. I couldn’t handle it any longer! I needed to fulfill my vision!

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Tricorn Black and distressed. Gorgeous original handles updated in Black and wet distressed to bring in some patina shine to enhance their details. She is available for purchase! You can view her details over at Shop Selections.

Tall Chest of Drawers and Nightstand

As a mother of three little getleman I understand the meaning of “we need to transition from kiddy furntuire into something he can enjoy later in his life”. Our childrens room are their personal little safe havens from the outside world that we loveingly allow them to express themselves with. They go through their styles through the years and having to change out only the decor pieces instead of furnture pieces can save hundreds of dollars and can also become herilooms later in life.

When I had a mother reach out to me wanting to bring her twelve year old over to view two of my inventory pieces from my In the Studio selection I was excited to see what ideas he was envisioning for himself.

A few days ago I posted a light blue Nightstand which will be used for mom in her room and son is taking the tall chest and one nightstand. Its pretty exciting seeing the same piece of furniture refinished in two different ways!
Refinished in Sherwin-Williams In The Navy with a Walnut stain top. Original hardware pulls cleaned.

Nightstand

As of late I have been working with neutral colors so when my client picked out a bright blue for her piece I was over the moon excited about it!

A small nightstand with a big impact. Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Porch Ceiling. Updated the hardware with these lovely handles from Hobby Lobby that my client picked out.

Stay tuned in as her twin is being refinished completely different.

Buffet

Clearly I love refinishing furniture. One of the main reasons why I am extremely busy with client projects more so than available pieces (You can find those gems over in Shop Selections) are the reactions I get when my clients see their final pieces. Most of the pieces I refinish for my customers are heirloom pieces. The emotional attachment to these items are important, not just to you but to me as well. I understand the importance of each piece, as most of my furniture in my home came from family. There are mixed emotions you get when giving me something so special to transform. Doubt, guilt, excitement, and literally tears of joy, I have seen it all. I am so honored to be a small part of a page in your amazing story.

This buffet was a special one to my client. As it was given to her by her late grandmother. A concern that my client had in regards to her piece was leaving the inside of the unit intact. You can still smell grandmothers potpourri and my client didn’t want to lose that part of her. I closed off the inside and carefully hand washed this gal leaving no Second Chance trace on the inside.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Pure White and glazed in Gauntlet Gray. Revamped original hardware in nickel.

Hello July, Goodbye June!

If you are living in the Valley of the Sun like myself, you are probably staying inside as much as possible. YES… things are melting out here in Arizona! It has been so incredibly hot this summer! I am getting a lot of concerns as to what time I do my work, and if I am staying hydrated from my thoughtful clients. I swear- you guys are the sweetest! My family and I are keeping cool in our pool as well as getting out of town as much as we can and heading north to the family cabin to escape the heat. I have been doing all of my work in the early hours in the mornings before the sun can make things unbearable.

In June there were some amazing pieces that were completed for both customers and inventory.  As always please email, text or call me for a quote! Remember to get yourself on the First Dibs Email to be notified first on available pieces. Let’s take a look at what was completed for the month of June.

“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will”

This month the The Artistic Home Design officially became live on Second Chance Charms! Something that I have been working on for over a year. A dream that mother and daughter could team up and create something amazing together! You can read all about my mother and her artistic background here at Maureen Flanigan. We also posted our very first piece (available for purchase) in The Artistic Home Design. You can read about our dresser debut here: Abandoned Car – The Artistic Home Design.

We are looking forward to coming up with more pieces to the many collections we will have available!
