Antique Secretary Desk

This little antique secretary desk belonged to my clients grandfather. She had fond memories of him sitting there doing his work when she was a child. My client aquired this desk some years ago and wanted to have it match with her master bedroom furniture.

Using this piece for a vanity she decided it needed to be a lovely artistic statement. Family heirlooms are my favorite!

My client matched her colors using Behr Paints color swatches and I had Sherwin-Williams color match those swatches in the products that I use. Refinished in Gem Silica, Honey Tea and Roasted Squash. The original hardware revamped in Oil Rubbed Bronze. I refinished the inside of the desk in Gem Silica for a surprise POP of color. Using Honey Tea and Roasted Squash I did a blunt blending in a horizontal line that matches her bedroom furniture. Distressed the entire piece to help give a finish blend as well as tie this piece in with the other pieces this little lovie will be sharing space with.

Antique Telephone Chair

Past down the generations my client wanted something special to be done to her antique telephone chair. She sent me a few pieces that she loved of mine that had the bohemian technique style. My mind started swirling!

Refinished the base in Sherwin-Williams Grays Harbor. Blending both Grays Harbor and Secret Cove only on the desk curved part, both front and back, and highlighting in Fleur de sel gave a dramatic effect. Excitingly, I found upholstery from Joanns in the same color as Fleur de sel for the chair cushion! Perfection!!!

I love how this antique telephone desk chair turned out!

TV Stand

Oh my heart!! The colors! All of this I just love!! When I visited my client for her color consultation she had a vision of how she wanted her family room pieces to look. Grey with a dark top to tie in her dark and dreamy kitchen. When verifying with her husband he mentioned a piece that he absolutely loved from my webpage: Bohemian Buffet by Link-Taylor

Another piece close to my heart that I really enjoyed doing. I looked over my shoulder and saw a painting hanging on the wall above their couch. I quickly pointed and said “we can use these colors!”

The excitement gained way and my mind was swirling! She ending up changing her original idea to a better one! The End Tables, I posted yesterday were grey and black glaze to tie in with this statement piece, making them still a matching set but with a lot more BOOM! This TV stand came out exactly how I envisioned!

Using Sherwin-Williams Tin Lizzie as our grey base I blended Jade Dragon, Interesting Aqua and Peppercorn. Glazing the unit in Tricorn Black to match the end tables which blended these three pieces together nicely. The top is Tin Lizzie just like the end tables. I added a pop of Sunny Veranda for an added artistic vibe. Changed out the hardware with white distressed grey knobs from Hobby Lobby.

Bohemian Buffet by Link-Taylor

I am so excited to share this piece built by Link-Taylor! I had it available for customization over at In the Studio and a returning client got her hands on her. When we were discussing ideas I was so thrilled to do something bright, bold and bohemian! This piece will be in her art studio as the center of attention!

She chose the colors Sherwin-Williams Jamaica Bay, Brave Purple and Solaria. I blended the blue and purple in different areas and added yellow as an accent color. Next, I glazed her in brown to bring all these brilliant colors together for a flawless look. Lastly, adding a mix and match of gorgeous knobs from Hobby Lobby to complete her bohemian style.

I really enjoyed this process, its very freeing and forgiving. With no rules, anything goes and I was able to just put myself out there artistically. I hope you love her as much as my client and myself do!

Love all of these colors!! Most recent projects!

“Emmett, what are you doing with my paint stirrers?”

“I’m a king, and these are my swords!”

I’ve been busy playing and enjoying my last few weeks with my half day Preschooler before the Summer Loven goes full blast. August he starts Kindergarten, full day, and life as I know it will undoubtedly change. I will have all three boys in school and an empty house. Talk about excitment and sadness!!

The good thing for you, is I will be able to schedule more jobs and really set off on Second Chance Charms. The past 7 years has been wonderful! I have all of you to thank for that!! You have allowed me to be a stay at home mother while helping pay a bill or two. Thank you!

Antique Barrel Top Decorative Trunk

Look at this stuff
Isn’t it neat?
Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?
Wouldn’t you think I’m the girl
The girl who has ev’rything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Lookin’ around here you’d think
(Sure) she’s got everything…”

Why am I singing Ariel’s song ‘Part of your world’ from my favorite childhood Disney movie Little Mermaid you ask?

Well, If you like color, mermaids, the ocean or even treasure, you will definitely like this trunk!! I tried a blending technique on a Serpentine Dresser not to long ago and absolutely loved the freedom and chaos it provided. (Click Serpentine Dresser to view) So when my client handed me an antique barrel top decorative trunk that she needed to use to store her blankets, but had no idea how she wanted her trunk refinished, I was full of ideas. I sent her a few inspirational photos of both black and colorful pieces and she dove in with “I love color, I’m excited, just surprise me”. Total freedom… Glad she is as happy as I am!!

I’m absolutely excited not only about this piece, but the technique. It was fun and completely different then my usual!

Refinished in four different colors using Sherwin-Williams Freshwater, Haven, Butternut and Rockwood Terra Cotta. All hardware and metal pieces revamped in gold. Glazed in a brown to antique this trunk up a bit more to create a timeless look.
