Nightstands

Last year I refinished a bedroom set for a client in a white lightly distressed in the lines, with stained tops. Another customer saw them and said “Hey!!! I have that exact set and I love them done in white!”

My new customer wanted the same look only more distressing! Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Alabaster and heavily distressed. Tops stained in Minwax Jacobean. Original hardware revamped in Oil Rubbed Bronze.

Hutch

A few weeks back I refinished a chair and a buffet that matches this hutch. My client has many more chairs and a dining table that I will be work on soon. Meep!!!

Refinishing these custom pieces in my clients style is so satisfying. I love her taste and can’t wait to see her dining room all set up once completed!

Using the color Software by Sherwin-Williams and glazing in Cyberspace. I stained the top in Weathered Teak. Added new hardware that my client purchased, Crystal Knobs matched with silver plates changes this piece to the better! Like most of my customs, I will have my clients keep the glass at home, in this case, two glass doors and glass shelves are at home waiting to be put back in.

Lexington Victorian Sampler Dresser and Mirror

Such a gorgeous dresser my client has!! She refinished it sometime ago and wanted a new look. This dresser by Lexington has grooves, crevices and curves in all the right places!

My client is ordering hardware, so unfortunately I will have to post this gorgeous piece without her completely finished. Trust me when I say, its very hard for me to do that. Haha

Nonetheless I will still stage her in all her beauty! Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Gray Matters and glazed in Cyberspace. I did not stain the top as my client was happy with how it was before, a beautiful dark finish. I did clean up a few troubled areas for her on the stain that was near the body of the piece.

Antique Chair

Ever take on a project and you feel like your client has more faith in you, then you do towards your own limits? Talk about stress. I KNEW I could, it was just… NEW territory. Which is scary, nervracking and completely intimidating.

My client has an old gorgeous dining set that was past down from her mother. I saw the potential, don’t get me wrong! But the question for me was, “how in the hell am I going to do this?”.

She gave me one of her chairs and said, I want to see what you can do. This transformation is by far one of my favorites. Perhaps its because I literally shed tears, blood and sweat working on it. The reward was greatly satisfying.

Before

My clients chair had the wicker back which completely dated it. However, her bones were glorious!

I first started out by removing the wicker from the backing. We didn’t want it, we wanted a cushion to replace that area. I sanded it back and cut out wood that would replace this area.

Primed, painted and glazed. I could do this in my sleep. It wasn’t until the reupholstering and the ‘How’ of it all that had me questioning my abilities.

Back of chair. Fabric tightly pulled over the new wood section.
Seat cushion reupholstering. I always remove the old. Love starting fresh!
Doing each step helped me remain calm and had me realize how this was all going to work out

Next, I added batting on the back (where your back will relax at). I pulled the fabric over and started stapling like a crazy women. Finalizing the edge with cord gives a professional appearance.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Software and Glazed in Cyberspace. Matching the buffet I recently finished. My client picked out a cream and grey damask fabric from Joanns. A dark grey cord to match and to finish her off!

Brand new, stylish and comfortable!!!

Family heirlooms are my jam! I say this often, and I don’t get tired of saying it over and over again; I KNOW how important these pieces are to you and your family. So not only do I take extra care in these family pieces, but I do pride myself on making them last for more generations to come.

My client wanted me to do a finish that would match an existing piece in her home that will share the space with her mothers hutch. She kept all glass shelves at her home along with the glass decorative door inserts. Check out the before picture to get an idea of what this piece will look like with those lovely add on’s installed back on!

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Pure White and distressed heavily. I went into certain spots and did a white wash to lessen the wood showing through. Im excited for this piece and to do more techniques like it in the future! Hardware is left original and cleaned up.

FACT: Family heirlooms are special. I have refinished and restored many custom pieces throughout the years, however, family heirlooms are close to my heart.

I love restoring and refinishing these pieces for various reasons. The main one for me; YOU chose me to carefully re-love your piece. What an honor! I pride myself on wanting to not only make YOU proud of your heirlooms, but also your family members who are still with us today, as well as the original owners who are looking down from heaven. Trust me, the stories these pieces carry are tremendous, but giving them another page to their story is what makes them continued to be past down for more generations to enjoy!

This client piece was passed down from great grandmother, to grandmother, to mother and now to daughter. I cant express enough how beautiful that is in itself.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Cityscape. Glazed in Pepercorn. The inside and gorgeous legs have been stained in General Finishes Java.

Antique Telephone Chair

Past down the generations my client wanted something special to be done to her antique telephone chair. She sent me a few pieces that she loved of mine that had the bohemian technique style. My mind started swirling!

Refinished the base in Sherwin-Williams Grays Harbor. Blending both Grays Harbor and Secret Cove only on the desk curved part, both front and back, and highlighting in Fleur de sel gave a dramatic effect. Excitingly, I found upholstery from Joanns in the same color as Fleur de sel for the chair cushion! Perfection!!!

I love how this antique telephone desk chair turned out!

2019 Portfolio

Good bye 2019! WOW! Where do I start, this year I completed the least amount of projects, yet excelled on new techniques, and THAT is something I am so proud of! Refinishing a total of 52 pieces: 6 First Dibs, 4 pieces to complete our remodel in our home, and the rest custom orders!

Thank you! With all of my heart, thank you!

“What keeps my heart awake is colorful silence.” Claude Monet

This past year my clients pushed my abilities; at times it was stressful, there were tears, fits, and doubts. Looking back I am so appreciative for the opportunity and knowledge I have gained, because of the trust you have in me I gain confidence. Blending was this past year’s trend and a few customers pushed my abilities. It’s only continuing into 2020 and I am looking forward to the art we will create!

If you recall my goal last year going into 2019 was FOCUS. Read post here: 2018 Portfolio. A huge part of this year’s total pieces being fewer than any other year, was in part because I DID focus on myself and my family. We entered new chapters in our lives and as a mother I enjoyed the time well spent this summer.

Looking back on 2019, we started the year off with our home renovations. Such an exciting time! We completely changed our look and had fun in the process. I redid some of my pieces, gained new pieces and overall made our house a home! This year my mother also joined in on the fun and completed 2 custom projects and one special dresser for me that I will be sharing at the beginning of the new year! Stay tuned in!

Thank you again, for your continued support, well wishes and allowing me to be creative on your goodwill finds, outdated pieces and or family heirlooms!

Much love, Becca.

Nautical Themed Dresser

My client enjoys her vacation cruises, so much so that she buys a piece of art from her many travels on ship. She wanted her bedroom dresser to resemble her found memories, so Maureen Flanigan put her artistic touch on her dresser.

Refinished in Sherwin-Williams Forever Lilac and lightly distressed for a beach feel. Added new hardware from Hobby Lobby, jute wrapped metal pulls. Acrylic hand painted nautical themed by Maureen using a verity of colors.
